The King's Award for Enterprise - Sustainability
The King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainability recognises businesses that have embedded sustainability across their entire organisation for at least 2 years.
This award celebrates sector-leading companies that place environmental and social responsibility at the heart of their strategy, operations and growth, while delivering measurable benefits for both people and the planet.
Successful applicants must demonstrate real impact, strong commercial performance and a clear commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Criteria
To apply, you must:
- show outstanding commitment to sustainability for at least three years
- demonstrate how sustainability is built into your organisation’s vision and strategy
- evidence the impact and positive outcomes of your actions or interventions
- align your work with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
You may include examples such as:
- developing innovative products, services or processes with environmental benefits
- embedding sustainability across your organisation, supply chain or community
We look for:
- sustainability fully integrated across the business
- leadership teams raising standards within their sector
- financial viability backed by strong commercial performance
- correct sustainability terminology and modern reporting standards (all organisations should address Scope 1 and 2 emissions; larger organisations should also consider Scope 3)
Advice for applying
What 'good' looks like:
- clear benchmarking against sector peers
- circular‑economy practices and reduced plastic use
- evidence of innovative sustainability projects, services or processes
- alignment with relevant UN SDGs
