The King's Award for Enterprise - International Trade

The King's Award for Enterprise in International Trade is for businesses that have achieved strong, consistent growth in overseas sales over either 3 or 6 years. You can choose the route that best reflects your achievements:

  • 3 year pattern – steep, rapid growth
  • 6 year pattern – sustained, steady growth

Criteria

To apply, you must:

  • provide 3 or 6 years of overseas sales data
  • show at least £100,000 in international sales in Year 1
  • demonstrate year‑on‑year growth with no dips across the chosen period
  • prove outstanding growth in overseas earnings, relative to your business size and sector

Assessors look for:

  • a clear narrative of your international journey, where you expanded, why, and how it shaped your business
  • evidence of performance and progress, supported by context about your markets
  • your strategic decisions, why you selected certain regions, and how you entered them
  • the impact of international trade, new customers, increased market share, or shifts in business strategy
