Laura Buckley felt undeserving of her success when she took her role as Director at SCC, and wants to share how she developed self-confidence, embraced the challenge of being a woman in engineering and flourished in the role that she deserved all along.
What you’ll learn
- Tools and resources used to overcome impostor syndrome
- How to drown out the noise from others and focus on your end goals. Don’t listen to the negatives, people will always tell you that you can’t or that it’s a bad idea
- Being a daughter of founder, a woman in construction and a non-engineer and overcoming the stigma that comes with that
- Having the confidence that we don’t need to have all the answers and ask for support from the people that do
- Growing a network of help and support
- Action Planning, setting targets and understanding your why. What’s your purpose?
Description
Feeling you just got lucky? Feel you’re not good enough or you shouldn’t be in this position?
Waiting on the wakeup call and for everything to fall down around you? That was me. I had very little evidence, other than negativity from others to back this up but it still consumed my thoughts. I stopped comparing, realised I did not have to have all the answers, believed in myself, grew my confidence slowly through exposure to my fears and still continually reflect on progress.
