Electricity networks
Electricity networks and their supply chains underpin and enable every element of our clean energy mission to maintain, expand and modernise.
An investment programme of around £70 billion in electricity transmission is anticipated over the regulatory period 2026 to 2031. Significant investment will also be required in distribution networks for the electrification of heat and transport. Opportunities for investment include transmission and distribution level components manufacturing.
The UK government is exploring how guaranteed long-term demand for components could support and enable new domestic manufacturing capacity.
