It is also the global leader in life sciences investment, research and commercialization, with many of the world's largest pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical technology and healthcare companies based in the US.
The session will provide an overview of the US life sciences landscape, covering key areas such as FDA regulation, reimbursement and market access considerations, partnerships, investment opportunities and routes to market. Attendees will hear practical advice on what companies should think about before entering the US and where BIST can help connect businesses with customers, partners, investors and wider networks across North America.

Alex Caron is a Senior Trade and Investment Officer with the UK Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (BIST), supporting healthcare and life sciences companies seeking to expand partnerships, investment, and commercial opportunities between the UK and North America. Based in San Francisco, she works with innovators, investors, and industry stakeholders across both markets. Prior to joining BIST, Alexandra worked in project management at Epic Systems, a leading electronic health record company.
Nathan Frankwick
Trade and Investment Officer, Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (BIST)
Nathan Frankwick is a Trade and Investment Officer with the UK’s Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (BIST). His remit is to support healthcare and life sciences companies with their international business development by building strategic partnerships and investment opportunities that strengthen business connections between the UK and North America. Prior to joining BIST, Nathan worked in global humanitarian R&D with a focus on medical innovations in crisis settings. Through this experience, he developed a specialty in international partnership development, with a particular focus on research institutes, government, and private sector stakeholders.
