Recruit expert talent for construction

Recruitment agencies and partnerships can help you tap into the huge network of UK construction talent.

Talent locations

There are growth opportunities across the UK, as the country addresses its housing shortage and need for infrastructure to support the transition to Net Zero. The UK's pool of construction technology (ConTech) and sustainable building talent supports this. Talent clusters include:

Leeds, North East England

There are around 20,000 construction businesses in the area, employing over around 60,000 people. With over 8,000 digital and tech businesses, there’s also a good supply of ConTech talent.

Manchester, North West England

The Greater Manchester area has world-class strengths in advanced materials, providing R&D opportunities for local companies. Greater Manchester is a national centre of excellence in construction tech, including BIM (business information modelling), innovative construction and sustainable building.

Bristol, South West England

The South West region employs 183,000 construction workers; the ConTech talent pool is boosted by a strong tech cluster in the Bristol area. The South West of England has seen some significant investment in the provision of construction education and training such as the Advanced Skills Construction Centre.

London and South East England

There are around 270,000 construction workers in London. With 15% of all construction firms in the UK, the city is a global centre for professional construction standards, sustainable building and ConTech innovation.

Edinburgh and Glasgow, Central Scotland

The commuter belt between the two cities is a source of construction and ConTech talent. Scotland as a whole employs around 185,000 construction workers, and 135,000 people are employed by Scottish tech start-ups and scale-ups.

Expertise through knowledge transfer

The Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) scheme provides opportunities for businesses who have an idea, but do not have all the talent needed to develop it. The scheme can link your company with an academic or research organisation, providing you with the services of a graduate as an associate.

A KTP is part-funded by a grant, with a contribution also made by the company.
