Free Trade Agreements
The UK has free trade agreements (FTAs) in place that can reduce restrictions on trade, making buying and selling easier and cheaper.
Trade agreements are made between two or more countries and set out the preferential rules for buying or selling goods or services between them.

Examples of FTAs which benefit the construction industry include:
- the UK-Australia Free Trade Agreement, which removes tariffs on over 99% of Australian goods exported to the UK and allows Australian contractors access to UK construction frameworks
- Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). Expected to come into force by end 2024, this will ensure construction companies will be able to benefit from tariff-free exports and flexible rules of origin
