Founded in 2012, Boston Energy provides technician support services to the offshore and onshore wind industries. Its technicians support developers and wind turbine suppliers on each phase of the turbine lifecycle.

Boston Energy can provide heavy-lift technicians, high-voltage technicians, maintenance technicians, painters, rope access technicians, troubleshooting advisors, supervisors and site managers and warehouse operatives. The activities they can undertake include:

• Pre-assembly activities, including assembly and upending of tower sections, cable termination inside the tower, installation of ladders, lifts and steel work in tower sections and turbine and control system preparation
• Construction and commissioning activities, including mechanical, electrical and lift operations, risk assessments and mitigation and site-based testing
• Operations and maintenance activities, including blade inspection, heavy lift and major component replacement, high voltage electrical servicing and turnkey maintenance and repair, and
• Decommissioning and repower activities.

Boston Energy also provides technician training courses to develop a workforce with offshore wind operational skills and knowledge of safety standards. It has a dedicated training facility which has been purpose built to provide a range of Global Wind Organisation courses, as well as other specific industry courses. Its workforce quality and training make Boston Energy a leading supplier of personnel to the offshore wind industry.

Industry track record

Boston Energy is currently providing up to 100 technicians for offshore wind operations and plans to increase its workforce to nearly 200 available technicians in 2025. Its track record includes:

• Operations and maintenance services on projects using Siemens turbine since 2012
• Pre-assembly and construction services on projects using Vestas turbine since 2014, including projects in Taiwan, and
• Offshore installation services on multiple projects using GE Vernova turbine, including Dogger Bank Wind Farm.
