Company outline

Founded in 1807, Mammoet is a heavy lifting and transport specialist. It provides lifting, transportation, installation and decommissioning services to the energy, maritime transport and civil engineering industries. It acquired ALE, a UK-based company specialised in heavy lifting in 2020.

For the offshore wind industry, Mammoet provides:

  • foundation and transition piece marshalling, including quayside scope management, onsite transportation and storage, sea fastening, load-out and load-in and roll-on and roll-off services
  • floater assembly and launching
  • turbine component marshalling and pre-assembly at ports

Mammoet has a range of specialised equipment, including large ring cranes and self-propelled modular transporters, to support offshore wind projects worldwide. It has extensive expertise and operates with a global engineering team experienced in offshore wind operations. It has key experience in the floating offshore wind market. This includes assembling turbine components for the 7 MW Fukushima offshore wind demonstration project in Japan and deploying the world’s largest ring crane for a floating offshore wind project in Norway.

Mammoet has provided services to over 20 offshore wind projects globally, including:
