BMT is a global specialist marine engineering, environment, and naval architecture consultancy founded in 1985. BMT serves the energy, ports, shipping and defence industries.

BMT provides services within the development and operational phases of an offshore wind project, with applied technical skills in environmental services, vessel design, engineering, and monitoring.

BMT’s core services for the offshore wind industry include:

• metocean surveys, with wind, waves, and climate data modelling, measurement, analysis, and management
• vessel design, including Crew Transfer Vessels (CTVs) and Service Operation Vessels (SOVs) with both standard and hybrid propulsion systems
• marine environmental services, including site surveys, impact analysis, policy and regulatory guidance, and stakeholder engagement

Industry track record

BMT’s offshore wind track record includes:

• designing 70 CTVs, including two in operation in Japan and three in Taiwan
• undertaking two major ports projects in Taiwan, including strategic planning for offshore wind ports
• supporting 15 projects in the APAC region, including environmental and metocean services, and ports and navigational risk assessments
• supporting over 50 projects in the UK and the rest of Europe, including metocean studies, vessel design and consulting, technical and navigational risk assessments, and operational monitoring
