Company outline
Founded in 2014, Synaptec is a company specialising in remote electrical sensing. It provides electrical monitoring solutions to help prevent unplanned outages and maximise electricity generation in the renewable energy and electrical transmission industries.
For the offshore wind industry, Synaptec provides:
- power cable monitoring to provide early warning of cable damage
- correlations between electrical and mechanical stresses to identify the underlying causes of cable ageing
- distributed power quality monitoring to obtain a detailed picture of individual generator behaviour within the projects’s transmission system
- optimised real-time thermal ratings
Synaptec’s services assist in optimising offshore wind project operations by safely maximising cable capacity and reducing the need for manual inspections. The solutions require no control power, maintenance or telecommunications infrastructure at remote measurement locations, making them easy to retrofit at remote locations of a wind farm.

Industry track record
Synaptec has provided services to multiple offshore wind projects in the UK, including:
- Dogger Bank Wind Farm
- Hywind Scotland, a floating offshore wind project
- a fixed offshore wind demonstration project at the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre
