Gender-related trade barriers to trade can be either gender-specific (barriers which specifically impact women) or gender-intensified (barriers which disproportionately affect women).

This could include, but is not limited to:

financial barriers
facing higher rejection rates for loans or receiving smaller amounts than men
venture capital and investment funds favouring male-led businesses
informal barriers
exclusion from business networks or trade associations due to gender
trade policy barriers
higher tariffs
unfair application of customs procedures, rules and regulations on the basis of gender
digital or technology barriers
gender-based violence and/or harassment
