Description

The subject of the present invitation to tender is four exploratory boreholes planned by the Geological Survey of North Rhine-Westphalia in the urban areas of Kempen, Krefeld, Viersen and Kaarst as part of the geological survey of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. the exploratory boreholes have the following objectives:- Investigation of the spatial distribution, thickness and properties of the strata deposited in the Quaternary, in particular the warm-age Eemian and Holstein strata in the mapping area. Drilling through the Quaternary sequence of strata to investigate the lithological and stratigraphic conditions in the upper meters of the Grafenberg Formation that follows in the bedrock.If calcareous strata are encountered within the Tertiary Grafenberg Formation over a drilling distance of several meters as a prerequisite for successful palaeontological investigations, the drilling will be discontinued.The drillings are to be carried out as core drillings with continuous extraction of samples up to a maximum depth of 60 meters.
