Description

The NRW Reconstruction Funding Guideline provides 100% funding for the reconstruction of flood-damaged forest roads. If the application is submitted via the local authorities, 100% of the affected private forest is also eligible for funding, which comes from the federal reconstruction fund. The opening was preceded by coordination between the Ministry of Homeland, Municipal Affairs, Building and Equality, the Ministry of the Environment, Agriculture, Nature Conservation and Consumer Protection and the State Court of Auditors. This enables local authorities to renew or repair private paths in the forest, which are mainly used for tourism, recreation and disaster prevention, by including them in their reconstruction plans. The corresponding reconstruction plan for the town of Lüdenscheid has been drawn up and approved by the council, with reconstruction officers from the regional forestry offices of Wald und Holz NRW supporting the local authorities and forest owners in planning and coordination and acting as a link. The local authorities are responsible for financial processing with regard to applying for funding, tendering, awarding contracts and invoicing. The regional forestry offices assist with the implementation by the forestry contractors and approve the work, which is to be completed by 31.03.2025. Funding is available for paved roads and paths that are publicly dedicated, publicly accessible to the public as cycle paths, footpaths or hiking trails, the maintenance of which is the responsibility of a local authority or which are owned by a local authority."
