Description
The city of Bornheim intends to build a new Heinrich Böll comprehensive school, including a triple sports hall, on a 25,000 m² site in the Merten district. The Heinrich Böll Comprehensive School is a five-form entry school with three classes for the upper school, which can be attended by approx. 1,140 pupils in years 5 to 13 when fully operational. In addition to classrooms, specialist and administration rooms, it includes an assembly hall/cafeteria, a break hall and a triple sports hall as an assembly facility with grandstand use. The gross floor area of the school is approx. 18,000 m², the gross floor area of the sports hall approx. 3,500 m². The building will be constructed partly in timber-concrete hybrid construction. The energy standard for the school building and sports hall will be an efficiency building 40. Heat will be generated from renewable sources via a well system and water/water heat pumps. The power supply is partly covered by photovoltaic systems including battery storage. On the basis of a functional performance specification and tender planning, it is planned to award the further planning and construction services to a general contractor. The school is scheduled to start operating in the new building at the beginning of the 2027/2028 school year.
