Description

The airport will increase its capacity by developing:

- a fifth terminal
- a third runway
- ancillary infrastructure

The proposed tunnels will:

- be cut-and-cover and bored tunnels
- be made using tunnel boring machines
- contain automated people movers (APM)
- contain baggage handling systems (BHS)
- link existing terminal 2 to the new terminal 5

The consultant is required to design the APM stations and BHS interchanges at both terminals.

Applicants should have extensive experience in the design and development of bored tunnels and major underground infrastructure for airports.

A tender briefing will be held on Friday 2 December 2016.
