A fencing hall with adjoining rooms is to be built on the grounds of the Norbert Gymnasium in Dormagen-Knechtsteden for the federal saber fencing base. The sports hall is to have the possibility of also being available in parts for school sports. The actual saber fencing hall as an air-conditioned three-field hall, the multi-purpose sports room, the weight room and all other rooms and access areas are to be used primarily by the federal fencing base, while the swimming hall and the gymnasium are to be used primarily by the Norbert Gymnasium sports school. The building is to be integrated into the existing local heating supply network and equipped with innovative technology. In the competition design, a sustainable and resource-saving construction method should be considered and comprehensibly justified in the presentation. A design that takes into account the entire life cycle of the building is to be elaborated in an integrative planning effort. The client is aiming for certification according to BNB Silver. The surroundings of the new building - northern schoolyard area, adjacent green spaces, part of the outdoor sports field - must be redesigned in the course of the construction measure. On the part of the client, a cooperative collaboration of all parties involved is specified as the central project goal, from planning to execution to operation, while adhering to a maximum fixed price in the sense of a cost ceiling.The subject of the competition is the following planning servicesa) Object planning of the buildings and interiorsb) Object planning of the outdoor facilitiesA restricted, single-phase realization competition will be held in accordance with RPW 2013. The competition is aimed at cooperation between architecture and landscape architecture. First of all, the architect should apply as a participant. He/she has to announce his/her cooperation partners only after the pre-selection. The total costs of the building (cost groups 300 - 500) amount to 17.81 million euros net. This cost figure is to be understood as an absolute upper cost limit.
