Canada - SD71 RFP No. 2024-001-040: Construction Management Services - Vanier Childcare Centre

School District No. 71 (Comox Valley) (SD71) wishes to retain the services of a qualified Construction Management firm to work with SD71, its Architect and sub-consultants, on the development of a new Childcare Centre on the GP Vanier Secondary School Site in the City of Courtenay.The Vanier Childcare Centre is a new facility that will be constructed on the site owned by SD71 and shared with GP Vanier Secondary School. The secondary school will remain in full operation during the construction of the childcare building.The Construction Manager will be required to provide a safe, secure school environment for students, staff, and the general public during all construction activity.This project is subject to the approval of the Board of Education, School District No. 71 (Comox Valley).The project scope includes the modular construction of a new 1175 (approx.) m2 building neighbouring GP Vanier Secondary School. The school will be occupied throughout the new construction program. The current project schedule has construction activities starting in the winter of 2025 and completing approximately a year later. The new facility is to be occupied and ready to accept occupants for February 2026.The Vanier Childcare design will be based on a site-built wood frame construction approach. The foundation system will be concrete foundation walls and slab on grade. These project deliverables and approach will be reviewed and confirmed with the successful CM once they are engaged and form part of the project team.
