Description

In carrying out the assignment, the specialist is required to carry out consultations with a wide cross section of stakeholders including:

  • private and public sector
  • academia 
  • civil society organisations
  • municipal corporations

The specialist must work closely with the Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ) and the Climate Change Division, as well as other consultants engaged in the Ja-NAP Project.

Specifically, the consultant will undertake the following duties:

  • review the following documents with a view to identifying national adaptation needs previously identified and options for addressing them
  • update 5 Vulnerability and Adaptation Assessment Reports
  • undertake 7 appraisal and prioritisation sessions to prioritise gender-specific adaptation options for the 5 priority sectors, and other critical sectors using participatory and inclusive approaches
  • formulate a draft gender-responsive medium-long term National Adaptation Plan (NAP) and implementation strategy in keeping with the UNFCCC NAP technical guidelines
  • conduct 2 comprehensive gender responsive and socially inclusive training sessions for key stakeholders on adaptation planning, coordination and implementation arrangements
