Description
The majority of heat generation plants at the Frankfurt site are currently operated with fossil fuels. Some of the existing cooling and heat generation plants will reach the end of their technical service life in the short to medium term or are already no longer being operated for technical reasons. In addition, there are increased demands on the cooling supply infrastructure of the data center located in the Westarkade. KfW is therefore planning a comprehensive modernization of its heating and cooling supply systems, including the associated infrastructure, as well as the full expansion of the photovoltaic potential of the available roof surfaces of KfW's own buildings.

Some of the existing cooling and heat generation plants will reach the end of their technical service life in the short to medium term or are already no longer being operated for technical reasons. In addition, there are increased demands on the cooling supply infrastructure of the data center located in the Westarkade. As part of the Climate Neutral Site Concept 2030, KfW is therefore planning a comprehensive modernization of its heating and cooling supply systems, including the associated infrastructure, as well as the full expansion of the photovoltaic potential of the available roof areas of KfW's own buildings. The subject of the tender procedure is the associated building services planning services. In this procedure KfW-2023-0050 (Lot 2), the work package is 4 - Full development of PV roof areas (Lot 2). This work package includes the full development of the PV potential on the roofs of the KfW-owned buildings at the Frankfurt site. In the run-up to the project, a basic evaluation of the PV potential at the Frankfurt site was carried out. As a result, a total of approx. 450 kWp can probably be installed on the 9 buildings owned by KfW. The interfaces to other trades are to be included in the overall planning, as well as the necessary coordination with the grid operator and, if necessary, the authorities. In addition to the installation of new systems, the planning should also include a consideration of how to deal with the existing old systems (north arcade, south arcade).
