Packaging of Tree Nuts Reference Materials
This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6 - Streamlined Procedures for Evaluation and Solicitation for Commercial Items, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. 
This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotations are being requested, and a separate written solicitation document will not be issued. This solicitation is being issued under the authority of FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures.
This solicitation is a Request for Quotations (RFQ). The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 2019-15, effective 8/13/2019.
The associated North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code for this procurement is 325998 with a small business size standard of 500 Employees. This acquisition is being procured under a Full and Open (unrestricted) competition.
The Chemical Sciences Division is responsible for chemical measurements in a broad range of areas, including the development of reference materials for the determination of the nutritional content and potential contamination of foods and dietary supplements. Two new candidate reference materials have been acquired for tree nut allergens, RM 8404 Blanched Almond Flour for Allergen Detection and RM 8405 Hazelnut Flour for Allergen Detection. These materials will be packaged in polyethylene heat-sealed bags inside heat-sealed Mylar pouches with packets of silica gel. Since the candidate materials will be used for calibration and/or validation of methods for allergen determination, cleaning of equipment is critical to prevent cross contamination.
