Description

Delivery and commissioning of a mass spectrometer (MS) according to the current state of development with highest mass resolution for coupling to an existing High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) system. The analytical applications require a high resolution of at least 30,000 at 500 Da, 20,000 at 2,000 Da, and 10,000 at 3,000 Da, a dynamic range of at least five orders of magnitude, a mass range m/z of at least 50-3,000 Da, and the ability to fragment ions selected from the entire mass range. The best possible resolution must be demonstrated using example measurements over three mass ranges (50-1,000 Da, 250-2,500 Da, 1,000-3,000 Da). The system must be able to generate proposed molecular formulas from high-resolution ion masses, isotope patterns, and fragmentation data. As ion sources the electron spray technique (ESI) as well as the atmospheric pressure chemical ionization technique (APCI) must be available. Furthermore, a hardware and software connection to an existing (U)HPLC system (Ultimate 3000 RS) must be established. The media generation technology (N2 generator) required to supply the system must be included.
