The Justus-Liebig-Schule grammar school is located in the inner city of Darmstadt "in the school island", address Landwehrstraße 28, 64293 Darmstadt, Germany. the building is under a preservation order and was constructed in 1911 as a four-storey, strictly axial building under the planning of August Buxbaum, a municipal building inspector. it borders on the south side on the adjacent gymnasium. The old building has a basement that protrudes half from the site and 4 floors above ground as well as the attic, which will be converted into classrooms in the course of renovation. Building dimensions:- Length approx. 60 m,- Width approx. 24 m,- Height over site to ridge: approx. 26,50 m.Existing construction:- concrete foundations,- reinforced concrete ceilings with steel beams (Koenensche Voutendecken),- brick masonry, façade in the base with natural stone cladding,- roof construction, hipped roof (post-war period) as rafter roof with filigree trusses, slate roofing.Measures:The work required essentially involves the complete renovation of the interior of the building. The outer shell with façade, windows and roof was already renovated several years ago in accordance with the requirements of a listed building. Apart from the stairwells and corridors, the building will be reduced to its shell construction. The works include the renewal of the electrical installation. Construction process: The school itself is outsourced. The construction measures will not be carried out while the school is in operation; however, the schoolyard will continue to be used and the specifications in the construction site installation plan must be observed. Insulation,- 1 600 m2 dry screed plates,- 145 m plinth heating,- 145 m2 ceiling radiant heating,- 23 radiators,- 850 m precision steel pipe plus insulation,- 19 heating pumps,- 100 m ventilation ducts exhaust air,- 2 exhaust fans,- 6 fire dampers,- 1 switch cabinet incl. automation.
