In order to enable more traffic on the climate-friendly railways and at the same time increase quality and punctuality, Deutsche Bahn and the Federal Ministry of Transport want to upgrade particularly busy sections of the rail network into a high-performance network.
Accordingly, the DB Group Management Board has decided to convert route 1710 and route 1720, Hamburg - Hanover, into a robust high-performance network with appropriate infrastructure equipment as part of the general refurbishment program for the high-performance network. The measures will also help to reduce maintenance interventions in conjunction with the necessary effects on rail operations.
With the general refurbishment of route 1710 and route 1720, Hamburg - Hanover, we are increasing the reliability of the route, creating long-term construction freedom and thus achieving the best possible, reliable product with greater planning reliability for our customers.
The measures include
- preventive maintenance measures or replacement investments in the existing superstructure in the form of track and points renewals
- Construction of transfer points for track switching operations
- Addition of simple switch connections in the stations for the purpose of upgrading to full transfer capability.
- Preventive maintenance measures and replacement investments in existing engineering structures and culverts
- Preventive maintenance measures and replacement investments in existing overhead line systems and 50 Hz systems (point heating systems)
- Equipping the line with DSW technology and equipping the line with ETCS Level 2 with signals
- Construction of noise barriers
- Barrier-free conversion and upgrading of the stations
