Description
The Grains Research Updates (GRU) are the GRDC’s highest profile connection between researchers, advisors, agronomists, grain growers and other industry stakeholders. Among the primary industries, GRUs are recognised as premier extension events for presenting new scientific discoveries and management practices to the industry, while stimulating engagement between scientists and practitioners within the industry. Their continuation is critical to knowledge exchange, the development of adoption-ready innovations, and ongoing growth of the grains industry. Â
The grains industry has grown considerably over the past two or three decades, and GRDC’s investment in research, development and extension has been a major factor in that growth. Over that time, GRUs have played a key role in the GRDC's research extension events calendar and have proven to be an effective part of the research, development, extension and adoption cycle. While the format of the GRUs has evolved over time, they continue to be a valued delivery mechanism for grains researchers and experts to present their research findings by showcasing the latest results directly to the grains industry. In addition to the delivery of timely and relevant information to attendees, the GRU series provide an excellent opportunity for growers, advisers and agronomists to interact and collaborate with leading researchers and organisations from across Australia. This engagement and two-way knowledge exchange are important for the development of technologies and practices that are readily adoptable.
