Description
The Forestry Department is starting a new decade of managing national forests with a strong emphasis on climate commitments and sustainable forestry. To fulfil both international obligations and domestic priorities, the Agency is seeking to engage a consultancy divided into two separate but linked workstreams: one for developing a National Forest Reference Emission Level (NFREL) and another for creating a Forest Quality Index (FQI) with a disturbance monitoring component. While together they will provide a complete overview of Jamaica’s forest-related goals, this separation is necessary because each workstream will address different needs, carbon emissions accounting versus forest condition monitoring and evaluation.
