How to: Access new international markets

Friday 10 October at 10:00AM

Struggling to know where to begin with expanding your business into foreign markets? We'll help you get started with planning your business' global expansion and how to assess which markets may be the most suitable for your business.

What you’ll learn

  • how to approach your global market entry strategy
  • how to use digital technology to expand the reach of your business overseas
  • how to plan the practical side of entering new global markets

Description

In this session we will discuss the need for strategic planning and how to develop an understanding of your target region.

Firstly, we shall discuss how using thorough market research will help identify demand, local competitors, cultural nuances and regulatory requirements.

We will show you how to utilise market reports and industrial analysis as well as trade associations to gain insights.

You will need to develop a tailored market entry approach. Will you sell directly to your customers or use local distributors or agents? Or perhaps you will establish a physical presence through joint ventures (JVs) or wholly owned subsidiaries?

We shall discuss how you can leverage digital platforms to expand reach, in particular using e-commerce platforms and social media as well as localised websites to help build brand awareness.

We will discuss how you need to develop an efficient logistics strategy and also discuss the need for financial planning.
