International Trade Adviser - Retail & Consumer, DBT

Claire Snowdon is a seasoned international business growth adviser with over 35 years of global experience. She is an accredited export communications consultant and expert in cross-cultural communications. Having lived and worked across the USA, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Far East, Claire has led overseas operations for UK and US textile and fashion companies, achieving business growth, cost reductions, and building effective multicultural teams.

Now based in Oxford, she supports Retail & Consumer SMEs in Southern England, with a strong focus on promoting UK manufacturing and helping businesses expand their international online presence. Claire is especially passionate about working with owner-managed and family-run businesses, as well as CEOs aiming for growth.

Judith McElhinney

Global Digital Commerce & Marketplace Partnerships Lead, Department for Business and Trade

Judith manages partnerships with some of the world’s leading ecommerce marketplaces. She has worked in a variety of roles within ecommerce for over 20 years, including at Amazon UK.

Paul Alger MBE

International Business Director, UK Fashion & Textile Association (UKFT)

Paul Alger MBE has over 35 years of experience of working with UK designers and manufacturers in the fashion and textile industry, offering business advice and support, particularly relating to international business and trade shows. He is experienced in the established markets of Europe and the USA but also has extensive experience and contacts in Japan, Russia and China.

He is UKFT’s main point of contact with the Private Office of HRH The Princess Royal, UKFT’s active President, and represents the industry on a number of national committees and groups on the UK’s free trade agreement policy for the industry. Since 2018 he has been Chairman of Export Partners UK (a cross-sectoral not-for-profit organisation set up to encourage a joined up approach to UK exports, international trade and relations with Government).

He was awarded an MBE for services to Fashion and Exports in 2019.

Tom Glover

MD, Peregrine Clothing - J G GLOVER & CO LTD

Tom Glover, rooted in Leicestershire’s rich textile heritage, grew up immersed in manufacturing and retail through his family's knitwear and lingerie businesses. After earning a BSc (Hons) in Product Design in 2002, he launched the Peregrine clothing brand in 2006, leveraging his family legacy and the appeal of UK-made goods.

Under Tom’s leadership, Peregrine has grown into an internationally recognized brand, manufacturing across eight UK factories and retailing in over 200 stores across 20 countries. In 2012, the company acquired a Manchester knitwear factory to expand private label production. In 2025, Peregrine received ‘The King’s Award for Enterprise’.
