What is the Youth Guarantee?

The Youth Guarantee is the government’s commitment to ensure that every young person aged 16 to 24 has the support and opportunities they need to get into work or education.

Over the next three years, the government will invest an additional £2.5 billion in the Youth Guarantee and Growth and Skills Levy, supporting almost a million young people and unlocking up to 500,000 jobs, training and learning opportunities.

What's in it for your business?

Employers are integral to the success of the Youth Guarantee and building our future workforce, so we're expanding the support available to businesses. Here's what you could access:

  • £3,000 Youth Jobs Grant for every person aged 16 to 24 you hire across Great Britain who has been looking for work for six months or more, available from June 2026.
  • £2,000 Apprenticeship Incentive for SMEs, in England, taking on a new apprentice aged 16 to 24, as part of a drive to create 50,000 more apprenticeships for young people, available from October 2026.
  • Fully funded apprenticeship training for SMEs employing eligible 16 to 24-year-olds, from August 2026.
  • Subsidised job placements through the expanded Jobs Guarantee, now open to candidates aged 18 to 24, to create over 90,000 placements over the next three years
  • National Insurance contribution exemptionsopens mcas-proxyweb.mcas.ms in a new tab for employees under 21 and apprentices under 25 (on wages up to £50,270)
  • Bespoke training support to help you design sector-specific work academy programmes and work experience opportunities that suit your business
  • Access to local Youth Hubs to match you with job-ready candidates in your area
  • Administrative support onboarding Universal Credit customers to help you take on new starters smoothly
