Description
The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is the EU's initiative to ensure that carbon emissions from the production of carbon-intensive goods entering the EU are fairly priced, while also promoting cleaner industrial practices in non-EU countries. The EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (EU CBAM) will enter its definitive phase in January 2026.
In this session, participants will gain insights into the DBT support offer, including the dedicated products on EU CBAM. They will also have the opportunity to hear directly from businesses about their experiences in preparing for EU CBAM.

Europe, East Asia, Digital Trade Lead – Free Trade Agreement Utilisation Team, Department for Business and Trade (DBT)
Valeria joined the then Department for International Trade in April 2019. Since then, she has worked across a range of trade policy areas, such as UK MFN tariff regimes, trade remedies, and FTA Implementation. In her current role, she is leading on getting ready businesses for specific EU regulations and the FTA Utilisation strategy on Digital Trade, Japan and Korea.
George Riddell

With over a decade of experience in trade policy and international relations, George leads Goyder Ltd, a boutique trade advisory consultancy, addressing complex trade challenges in a shifting global landscape. Joseph Goldsworthy is a customs and trade specialist, with over 10 years’ experience in international trade, currently hosting training courses, customs and SPS consultancy through the Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade. Joseph has broad international trade experience, having worked within several roles in the food & drinks sector, also acting as a customs agent and delivering training and consultancy prior to joining the Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade.
