Description
The Castlecara Sportsgrounds Active travel scheme will allow safe movement from the Castlecara road footpath to the Sports grounds which is located approximately 170m along the L-7415. The footpath will extend another 70m beyond the existing sports grounds entrance.
The existing conditions show a tree lined verge on both sides. This contract will involve the removal of all trees within a 6m distance from the centre line of the local road on the southern side (Carrick town side). There is approximately 70 trees which range from young to mature trees (girths ranging from less than 100mm to 450mm). A site visit is needed to accurately price up this item of work.
A fence line similar to one on adjacent Castlecara road will be required along the length of the proposed footpath. Larch timber post and rail fence. This fence line will be situated 6m from the existing centre line of the local road.
An open drain at the back of the footpath will be provided to allow footpath gullies to drain into. Any surplice material from excavations will be spread evenly on the land side of the new fence line.
The trees shall cut in manageable lengths and stored on the fence line side of the works for future landowner use. The remaining scrub and lesser branches will be mulched on site or disposed of in an environmentally safe manner.
Approx 600mm of top material will have to be removed and replaced with suitable material such as stone or Cl803 to build up to underside of footpath Cl804 level.
The kerb line for the proposed footpath will be constructed 4m from the local road centreline. This kerb will have 6 dropped kerbs at locations agreed on site. (Indicative drawings show dropped kerb locations.) Kerbs can be in-situ or precast and shall finish 150mm above existing road level. Dropped kerbs shall be 50mm above existing road level which will allow for future road surfacing. Backing kerbs or treated timber will be required at the back of the footpath to allow proper blacktop construction and compaction. The footpath will be made
